Shawn J. McCabe
Shawn J. McCabe is the Managing Partner of McCabe Gunn, CPA, PA and shareholder & Chief Compliance Officer of Gunn & Company Investment Management, Inc. Shawn provides consultative financial and tax-planning services to individuals, businesses, retirement plans, and trusts. After serving ten years of active military service and completing a combat tour in Afghanistan, Shawn started his career in financial planning and investments in 2007. Joining the industry at the beginning of the “Great Recession” allowed him to quickly learn that the stock market can be unpredictably cruel, and at the same time, extremely rewarding to those who stayed the course. Also, during that time, he and his clients became an invaluable part of each other’s lives. They relied on him to get them through some of the worst markets in history.
At the same time those experiences taught him more about life, trust, perseverance, and the undeniable need for clients to have genuine and executable plans. Shawn’s ability to understand and breakdown the most complex problems, along with his broad professional experience, uniquely equips him to be the perfect coach, mentor, and advisor to his clients on how to achieve and protect their tax-advantaged financial independence.
When he’s not helping his clients plan and execute, he can be found spending time in the gym or traveling with his wife Amy, playing guitar, and singing worship tunes with his daughters Emma and Bella, or rooting his son Ethan on as he’s working his way through college.
Shawn earned a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Leo University. He earned a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) from Purdue University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional (CFP®).
Marshall D. Gunn, Jr.
Marshall D. Gunn, Jr. was the Founding Partner of Gunn & Company, CPA, PA, now McCabe Gunn, CPA, PA. Marshall provides consulting, financial, and tax-planning services to individuals, businesses, retirement plans, foundations, and trusts. These services include retirement, financial, estate tax, and gift tax planning.
CPA Magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential CPAs in America and one of the seven most influential CPA/Financial Planners in America. He is the author of the books The Money of Love and Take Charge of Your Financial Life! He has received numerous awards as an author and speaker on various financial topics.
On the international level, Marshall is a frequent guest speaker for various CPA societies and professional associations. He has spoken in numerous forums and has been quoted on television, radio, and in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, The Practical Accountant, and other print media.
Marshall is frequently called upon as an expert witness. His areas of testimony include business valuation, investment suitability, investment value, and various business issues.
A graduate of Jacksonville University, Marshall holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He has served his alma mater as an adjunct faculty member in accounting, taxation, and finance.
Mr. Gunn and his wife Kathy reside in Jacksonville, Florida.
Susan R. Hughes
Susan R. Hughes is Firm Administrator for McCabe Gunn, CPA, PA and has served in the same capacity for Gunn & Company, CPA, PA. During the past 40 years, she has managed virtually every aspect of the firm to keep the business running efficiently. She is responsible for human resources, payroll, administrative management, and development and enforcement of firm policies.
Susan resides in Fleming Island, Florida, with her husband Scott. She attends and volunteers at The Church of Eleven22.
Reneé L. Morrell
Reneé L. Morrell is an Accounting Assistant for McCabe Gunn, CPA, PA and has served in the same capacity for Gunn & Company, CPA, PA. Reneé has been with the firm since 1988. She provides back-office services for clients including payroll, sales tax, check-writing, bill pay, and month-end accounting.
Reneé enjoys spending time with her family and resides with her husband Kevin in Jacksonville, Florida.
Elizabeth (Page) P. DeWitt
Elizabeth (Page) P. DeWitt is an Executive Administrator for McCabe Gunn, CPA, PA and has served in the same capacity for Gunn & Company, CPA, PA. Page has been with the Firm since 2002. She provides administrative services for clients, including tax return assembly and client relations.
Page enjoys spending time with her family and resides with her husband Michael in Jacksonville, Florida.
